BKN Issues Recommendation to Extend Tangsel's Regional Secretary's Tenure

Tangerang Selatan, Kompas.com – The State Civil Apparatus Agency (BKN) has issued a recommendation to extend the tenure of Bambang Niertjahyo as Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Tangerang Selatan. BKN chief Zudan Arif Fakrulloh said the recommendation had been issued since early May 2026. “It has been some time already, around early May 2026 the BKN recommendation,” Zudan told Kompas.com on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. “BKN has issued a recommendation for Tangsel’s Sekda to extend his tenure,” he said. However, when asked about the basis for the extension, Zudan declined to explain and only said that it was in accordance with the regulations. “It can be up to five more years. There is no need for a new selection,” he added. Meanwhile, the Head of Tangerang Selatan’s Department of Communications and Information, Tubagus Asep, confirmed the issuing of the appointment letter for the Tangsel Sekda. “Yes, that’s correct. The appointment decree for the Sekda has been issued,” Asep said. He explained that the evaluation of the Sekda’s position does not automatically remove the incumbent from the post. “The Sekda position ends not due to periodicity, but if he falls ill, is permanently unable to perform, or resigns. For now, he remains Sekda,” Asep said. Therefore, according to Asep, Bambang does not need to undergo a new selection process or reappointment.
