JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The National Civil Service Agency (BKN) has granted a posthumous promotion and pension rights to a civil servant (ASN) who was a victim of the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night (27/4/2026). One of the victims was recorded as an ASN teacher, namely Nurlaela, who held the position of First Expert Teacher at State Elementary School Pulo Gebang 11, East Jakarta. BKN Head Zudan Arif Fakrulloh conveyed condolences for the incident and emphasised the state’s commitment to providing protection and recognition to ASN who have fallen. “As Head of BKN, I extend my deepest condolences for the passing of the ASN in this incident. The state will ensure that the victim receives the appropriate recognition for their dedication and service,” said Zudan in his statement on Thursday (30/4/2026). In addition, the victim is also declared to meet the criteria for a posthumous promotion one rank higher. BKN, together with PT Taspen, has coordinated to ensure that all employment rights for the victim’s family are fulfilled. Several rights provided to the heirs include widow’s or widower’s pension at 72 percent of the base pension, death benefit due to work accident, condolence money, and funeral expenses. Furthermore, the government is also providing scholarship assistance for the heirs as a form of long-term support for the bereaved family. “Through these steps, BKN demonstrates not only as a civil service manager, but also as an institution that is present to provide certainty, protection, and recognition for ASN and their families in times of sorrow,” he stated.
