BKN Assures Work-Near-Home Programme Will Boost ASN Productivity and Welfare
The National Civil Service Agency (BKN) has assured that a new programme allowing state civil servants (ASN) to work closer to their domiciles will not diminish public service productivity. BKN Head Zudan Arif Fakrulloh stated that the initiative is designed to create a more productive and effective work environment by prioritising employee welfare. He believes that achieving a better work-life balance will enable employees to perform more optimally. By working closer to home, Zudan noted that ASN can be nearer to their families, which boosts motivation and allows them to better fulfil their roles as parents and family members. The programme also aims to help ASN manage their household finances more efficiently. Zudan highlighted that many civil servants currently bear the burden of travel, accommodation, and dual living expenses due to placements far from their families. The initiative is currently in a trial phase within BKN. The agency will evaluate its impact on employee productivity, organisational effectiveness, and public service quality. Zudan expressed hope that this welfare-based approach will serve as a best practice and inspire other ministries, agencies, and regional governments to design more adaptive ASN management policies without compromising professionalism and accountability.
