BKKBN provides family planning services for disaster-affected residents in Pidie Jaya
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Aceh Representative Office of the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) has brought family planning (KB) services to disaster-affected communities in Gampong Meunasah Mayang, Meurah Dua District, Pidie Jaya Regency. Safrina Salim, head of the BKKBN Aceh Representative, in Pidie Jaya on Wednesday, said the family planning services were introduced to ensure those of reproductive age have access to reproductive health services amid the post-disaster conditions. ‘We are delivering these family planning services to ensure disaster-affected communities continue to have access to reproductive health services. We are delivering these family planning services in Gampong Meunasah, which is a village affected by hydrometeorological disaster,’ she said. In addition to the services, the Aceh BKKBN team also educated and socialised reproductive health to women in the disaster-affected area. ‘This socialisation and education are to provide an understanding of the importance of family planning and maintaining reproductive health in the aftermath of the disaster,’ she said. Safrina Salim said the family planning and reproductive health services represent the government’s presence in providing support and recovery for communities affected by hydrometeorological disasters.
