Indonesia’s National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) in East Nusa Tenggara Province has opened a service post at Tenau Port in Kupang during the 2026 Eidulfitri exodus period. Free contraceptive devices in the form of pills and condoms have been made available to support family planning programmes.

BKKBN East Nusa Tenggara Head Faizal Fahmi stated that the opening of the post follows directives from the Family Planning Minister and Head of BKKBN, Wihaji. According to him, the post’s presence aims to bring services closer to communities travelling during the exodus.

“One of the facilities we provide is contraceptive devices in the form of pills and condoms,” said Faizal on Monday (16 March 2026) in his office.

Faizal explained that married couples wishing to obtain free contraceptive devices must be registered. “We provide these contraceptive devices for those of reproductive age, and the requirement to obtain pills and condoms is that people must provide their personal data to be recorded,” he clarified.

“This year we are targeting distribution of 60,000 contraceptive units. Our stock remains secure for the next six months,” Faizal added.

BKKBN East Nusa Tenggara has also established cooperation with the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) East Nusa Tenggara to assist in service provision at the Eidulfitri exodus service post at Tenau Port.

“Since this is the first time, we are focusing only on Tenau Port. In district areas, our colleagues will distribute contraceptive devices in cooperation with health facilities at Alak Community Health Centre,” he explained.

According to Faizal, this programme will become one of the routine programmes conducted by BKKBN in accordance with directives from Minister Wihaji. “We will adjust according to incoming vessels; the BKKBN post will certainly operate throughout the holiday period. We are focusing on travellers during the exodus,” he concluded.
