Killer of RI transvestite hunted

AUSTRALIA: Police hunting the killer of an Indonesian
transvestite prostitute stabbed to death in Sydney's red light
district said on Friday he was likely the victim of a random
slaying.

Lee Zainal, 46, known locally as "China" was stabbed nine
times in the chest and neck on Sunday morning in the Kings Cross
neighborhood.

Detective Inspector Jenny Hayes of Kings Cross police said
Zainal had been well known in the area over the past four years
but investigators believed the killer probably struck at random.

Police have displayed a mannequin dressed in the type of
clothes and wig Zainal wore when he was killed near the scene,
hoping it might jog the memory of possible witnesses. -- AP
