BKI Partners with PLN Indonesia Power to Explore Decarbonisation Collaboration
JAKARTA — PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero), or BKI, is exploring a strategic partnership with PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN-IP) in the field of sustainable energy.
The cooperation encompasses services such as certification, inspection, non-destructive testing, laboratory services, decarbonisation, surveys, and engineering.
This partnership represents an initial step for both companies to build technical and strategic collaboration aimed at supporting reliable and sustainable power plant operations.
The memorandum of understanding also serves as a foundation for identifying benefits, opportunities, and risks from the planned cooperation, prior to developing more targeted follow-up steps.
BKI’s President Director, R. Benny Susanto, stated that the company is ready to act as a strategic partner in this collaboration, particularly through its technical competencies.
“We are prepared to dedicate our competency capacity, independence, and technical expertise to ensure that every operation, maintenance, and facility managed by PT PLN Indonesia Power meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance,” Benny said in a press release on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
Meanwhile, PLN Indonesia Power’s President Director, Bernadus Sudarmanta, assessed that BKI now not only plays a role in the shipping sector but also possesses relevant capabilities to support the company’s operational needs and business transformation.
He noted that PLN Indonesia Power currently manages over 400 power generation units that supply approximately 25% of the national electricity needs.
At the same time, the company is continuously developing new renewable energy projects that require reliable technical support services.
One of the scopes explored in this cooperation is decarbonisation, which forms part of efforts to support a more environmentally friendly power generation system.
Within that scope, BKI will support PLN Indonesia Power through the provision of engineering solutions and technical feasibility studies.
This support is directed towards promoting the development of power generation systems aligned with Net Zero Emission targets and strengthening the sustainability of Indonesia’s energy sector.
