BKHIT Maluku: Fisheries Export Value Reaches Rp881 Billion

The Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency (BKHIT) of Maluku recorded that the export value of fishery commodities from Maluku reached Rp881.59 billion up to September 2026, representing a 5.7 per cent increase compared to the 2025 achievement of Rp885.64 billion.

The Head of BKHIT Maluku, Willy Indra Yunan, stated in Ambon on Tuesday that Maluku’s vast fishery potential, supported by its fishery management areas, is one of the key factors driving the export of fishery commodities to international markets.

“Fishery commodities are one of the strategic commodities in the food and trade sectors, providing a positive impact on the economy in Maluku Province,” he said.

He noted that this export value positions Maluku’s fishery commodities as a leading sector, contributing significantly to national fishery commodity trade.

Furthermore, entrepreneurs are also exporting live grouper fish. These Maluku fishery products have been marketed to several countries, including Hong Kong, with opportunities for market expansion into China.

He added that the presence of Fish Processing Units (UPI) in Maluku serves as an important foundation for increasing the competitiveness of fishery products, enabling them to be exported directly to international markets.

However, he noted that the competitiveness of Maluku’s fishery products still needs to be improved compared to other regions in Indonesia.
