Ambon (ANTARA) – The Maluku Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Office (BKHIT) has certified the export of 7,652 live groupers from Kota Tual, Maluku, to Hong Kong. The head of BKHIT Maluku, Willy Indra Yunan, in Ambon on Friday, said the certification was carried out after quarantine officers conducted surveillance and inspection of the commodity, from the location of the Floating Net Cage (KJA) to the loading process onto the transport vessel at Tual Port.

“The inspections were conducted to ensure the fish are healthy, the quantity and species are correct, as well as the completeness of quarantine documents in accordance with the destination country’s requirements, so that there is no rejection upon arrival in the destination country,” Willy said in a written statement received in Ambon.

He explained that this activity marks the first export of a fishery commodity from Kota Tual in 2026.
