This programme plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for the community by providing decent, healthy, and safe housing. Bandung (ANTARA) - Bank BJB is strengthening its strategic collaboration with the government through the disbursement of Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) funds worth Rp700 billion, targeting the improvement of 35,000 substandard housing units across West Java in 2026. The synergy, marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between Bank BJB and the Implementing Agency for Housing and Settlement Areas of Java II at Menara BJB on Friday (27/3), positions the regional bank as the main driver in accelerating access to decent housing for low-income communities in 27 regencies/cities in West Java. “This programme plays an important role in driving improvements in the community’s quality of life through the provision of decent, healthy, and safe housing,” said Bank BJB’s Director of Consumer and Retail, Nunung Suhartini, in a statement in Bandung on Monday. Nunung explained that the government’s trust in reappointing Bank BJB as the disbursing bank is based on the company’s successful track record in managing similar funds from 2017 to 2022. With an allocation of Rp20 million per housing unit, Bank BJB is committed to ensuring that the fund distribution runs transparently and accountably. The implementation of the fund disbursement, planned to take place over four months (April-August 2026), uses two main schemes to ensure accurate targeting. The first scheme involves cash withdrawals for labourers’ wages, and the second involves direct transfers to building materials stores for purchasing construction materials. “We hope that the implementation of this collaboration can run smoothly and provide optimal benefits. Bank BJB is ready to continue collaborating and innovating,” Nunung stated. To facilitate beneficiaries, Bank BJB provides the Special BJB Tandamata Savings product, designed to be inclusive with no initial deposit, free administration fees, and no minimum balance. This facility is supported by Bank BJB’s extensive network that can reach even the remotest areas of West Java evenly. In addition to fulfilling basic shelter needs, this collaboration is believed to be able to create an integrated local economic ecosystem, from the construction services sector to the building materials trade. The Head of the Implementing Agency for Housing and Settlement Areas of Java II, Mochamad Mulya Permana, also witnessed the signing conducted by the Head of the Consumer Funds & Services Division of Bank BJB, Maman Rukmana, and the PPK for Self-Help Housing, Nadya Rahmarani Akbar. This synergy serves as concrete evidence of the presence of regional banking in supporting national strategic programmes for the welfare of the West Java community.
