Police are still pursuing Taufik Hidayat (30), the suspected perpetrator of the confinement and abuse of YTR (29). The case gained widespread attention after YTR was found in a horrific condition, allegedly having been held captive for three years in Bandung Regency, West Java. The victim suffered permanent damage to both eyes. In addition to losing her sight, YTR’s body was covered in wounds, her head was swollen with bleeding, and there were slash wounds on both legs. The case came to light when the victim was taken to hospital in mid-June 2026. The family, who had not known YTR’s whereabouts for three years, expressed shock upon seeing the victim’s condition when she was found. As the investigation progressed, various accounts from women claiming to have interacted with Taufik Hidayat emerged on social media. They accuse the perpetrator of having deviant behaviour that leads to acts of violence against women. One account was uploaded by the X account @dhemit_is_back. A woman claimed she met Taufik Hidayat through a dating app before being invited to meet at a boarding house in the Bandung area. According to her account, she was forced to take a pregnancy test and was intimidated when she refused. “I met him through a dating app (Tantan), then he asked to get acquainted. Coincidentally, my location wasn’t far from his, only about 25 minutes away. After that, he invited me to meet up. I also didn’t know I would be taken to his boarding house. But I know the area of his boarding house is on Jalan Cagak Maruyung, Bandung Regency,” she said. “Then I was told to urinate and was given a pregnancy test. When I refused, I was forced, then I was shouted at with harsh words and locked in from the outside. When I complied with his demand to take the test and the result showed one line, he got angry, shouting ‘why aren’t you pregnant’. He smashed a Kawa Kawa bottle. After that, he showed me a photo of him and his deceased mother. Luckily, I was able to escape,” she continued.
