Bishop congratulates Muslims

ATAMBUA, East Nusa Tenggara: Catholics led by Bishop Anton
Pain Ratu visited local Muslim leaders in Atambua on the border
of East Nusa Tenggara and East Timor to wish Muslims happy Idul
Fitri celebrations on Sunday.

"As leader of Catholic followers here, I congratulate Muslims
on Idul Fitri. We cannot visit every Muslim family except for
their figures and leaders as their representatives gathered
here," Anton told Muhammad Hasan, who leads the Belo regency
branch of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI), during a meeting.

Anton said his visit was also aimed at enhancing religious
solidarity among Muslims in war-torn regions of Maluku and Poso,
where they were unable to celebrate Idul Fitri due to unabated
sectarian conflicts.

In a response to the congratulations, Hasan extended his
gratitude to the bishop and his followers. --Antara
