Biru Tsabita Develops Women's Bag and Wallet Business with BRI Empowerment, Rising from Limitations
Born from the need to supplement the family income, Biru Tsabita, a women’s bag and wallet business from Pemalang, Central Java, has continued to develop to this day. Relying on beautiful yet functional designs, this enterprise is gradually expanding its market reach to various regions in Indonesia.
Mutoharoh, the owner of Biru Tsabita, recounted that the business began as an effort to seek additional income amidst the family’s economic limitations. “At that time, we were trapped in considerable debt, so our income was insufficient to meet our living needs. From there, we tried to find side work, and our choice fell on online selling, which could be done alongside our regular routines. Alhamdulillah, that online business has continued to grow until now,” she said.
Since its establishment in 2019, Biru Tsabita has offered a variety of women’s bags and wallets for a growing market. Among the products produced, women’s wallets are one of the most sought-after by customers. Marketing is conducted through marketplaces and partnerships, with a reach extending to various regions in Indonesia and even having reached Malaysia.
In addition to providing ready-to-sell products, Biru Tsabita also serves custom bag and wallet orders according to customer needs. The development of Biru Tsabita has been further strengthened through coaching from BRI’s Rumah BUMN. For Mutoharoh, this mentorship has helped increase her knowledge while opening up networks that support business growth. Along with this development, Biru Tsabita now involves 33 workers.
“All the training provided by Rumah BUMN BRI has been very helpful for us, especially the BRIncubator BRI 2025 programme, whose benefits have been most felt so far for business development,” she said. To support operations and sales, Mutoharoh also utilises BRImo and QRIS BRI. Going forward, she aims to expand her business network by strengthening marketplaces and partnerships to broaden Biru Tsabita’s market reach.
Corporate Secretary of BRI, Dhanny, expressed that Biru Tsabita’s journey shows that a business started from limitations can grow when pursued with sincerity and a continuous openness to learning. “Biru Tsabita demonstrates that from limitations, a business can be born that continues to develop and provide livelihoods. Through Rumah BUMN, BRI aims to assist more MSME players so they have room to learn, expand their markets, and step further with increasingly strong businesses,” said Dhanny.
