Bireuen-Bener Meriah Road Access Cut Off Again Due to River Overflow
The alternative emergency road access in Wih Porak, Pintu Rime Gayo subdistrict, Bener Meriah, has been cut off again after briefly being reconnected. The road is now impassable due to the river overflowing.
“(Monday) at 5 p.m., it was cut off again because of heavy rain,” said the Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of Bener Meriah, Ilham Abdi, as reported by detikSumut on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
Until last night, rain continued to lash the area. Ilham stated that several heavy machines still at the location have been mobilised to reopen access once the water flow decreases.
The route was previously cut off on Sunday (5/4) afternoon due to the river overflowing. However, around 02.00 WIB early this morning, vehicles could pass after local authorities rebuilt the emergency road.
It is known that the severed route is the only access to central Aceh from the direction of Bireuen. The main road in the area, Tajuk Enang-enang, was completely cut off during the disaster at the end of November 2025 and has not been passable since.
The alternative route was also severed during the disaster. Currently, vehicles pass through the emergency route by crossing the river.
