Bird mating attracts photographers
DUA ISLAND, Seribu Islands: A number of famous photographers
are expected to flock to the Dua Island in Banten bay, Serang
regency, next month to picture the mating of thousands of
migrating birds from Europe and Asia.
Some of the photographers to take part in the picture-taking
safari include Alain Compost, Don Hasman, Riza Marlon, Bas van
Balen and Bob Frank, Antara reported.
Sunarto, chairman of a bird-watching club, Symbioses
Foundation, said the plan is part of a series of activities in
connection with Flora and Fauna Day earlier this month.
The event will also be marked with discussions on nature
conservation and techniques of photography.
The 70-hectare Dua Island is inhabited by 99 species of
migrating birds and has a population of about 300 birds. (swe)
