BIPI Continues Plans to Divest Coal Sector Subsidiary
PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI) is continuing its strategic steps to strengthen its investment portfolio. This initiative aligns with its commitment to developing sustainable energy businesses. As part of this strategy, the investment company focused on energy infrastructure is exploring and discussing with several potential buyers regarding plans to divest subsidiaries operating in the coal mining sector.
This initiative is part of Astrindo’s broader efforts to optimise its portfolio and accelerate the transformation towards a more environmentally friendly and sustainable energy sector. The company believes that this divestment plan will provide long-term added value, both in terms of financial performance and business sustainability.
Ray Anthony Gerungan, the company’s President Director, explained that the divestment process is at an advanced stage. According to him, the company always complies with applicable laws and regulations. This includes public disclosure of information and ensuring that every strategic step taken is carried out with principles of prudence, adequate risk management, and guided by good corporate governance principles.
“This step is part of the company’s strategy to expand participation in Indonesia’s clean energy ecosystem. We view ESG aspects not only as a business opportunity but also as a real solution in supporting the national energy transition. Going forward, the company will continue to develop a sustainable energy portfolio that can create long-term value for shareholders and stakeholders,” said Ray.
This potential divestment further affirms Astrindo’s direction in diversifying into the green energy sector to complement its current energy portfolio. In the future, the company remains open to exploring opportunities to expand its investments in sustainable energy solutions, including environmentally friendly initiatives, efficient resource utilisation, sustainable waste management, and technologies that support carbon emission reductions.
In addition, the company is also evaluating the potential development of gas-based energy infrastructure and other clean energy initiatives as part of its strategy to build a more balanced, sustainable, and future-oriented energy portfolio.
Astrindo is committed to continuing to create value for shareholders and other stakeholders through adaptive, innovative, and future-oriented business strategies.
