Biology Teacher's Alleged Assault Leaves Female Student Hospitalised
Allegations of violence have resurfaced in the education sector. SMN (16), a female student at a state senior high school in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), fainted and was admitted to hospital. She is suspected of being assaulted by her teacher, Vince Aplugi. The incident occurred during a lesson in class, at around 12:00 local time on Tuesday (24/2/2026).
“The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim by using a bottle containing mineral water, pulling her hair, and slamming her onto a chair until she fainted and felt pain in her head and dizziness,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Belu Police, AKP Rachmat Hidayat, to detikBali on Wednesday (25/2/2026).
Asked to Draw a Nerve Cell
Rachmat said the incident began when SMN was taking a biology exam in class. In the exam, there was a question that required students to draw a nerve cell. However, SMN and her friends could not draw it.
As a result, Vince, who is the biology teacher, immediately hit SMN on the head with a bottle. After that, Vince gave the bottle to SMN.
SMN then threw it in the trash. Hearing the sound, Vince immediately asked who had thrown the bottle. SMN then admitted that she had thrown it.
Allegedly Hair-Pulling and Slamming
After that, Vince immediately approached and pulled the victim’s hair. He also slammed the victim onto a chair until she fainted and felt dizzy. After the incident, SMN immediately went to the Belu Police to file a police report so that it could be processed according to applicable law. However, Rachmat said that the police had conducted a medical examination of the victim.
“We have not yet questioned the victim because she is not yet able to provide information. We plan to question her on Monday,” said the former Head of the Kota Lama Police Station, Kupang City Police.
