Jakarta — Lisnawati, the biological mother of NS (12), a boy who died allegedly as a result of abuse by his stepmother, has expressed her desire for her son to receive commensurate justice, whilst Commission III of the House of Representatives has assured a maximum effort to secure justice.

“I only want my child to receive proportionate justice,” said Lisna during a public hearing held by Commission III at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday.

In response to Lisna’s request, Habiburokhman, Chairman of Commission III, reaffirmed the commission’s full commitment to securing justice in the case that occurred in Sukabumi, West Java.

“Of course, certainly, ma’am, we will go all out to fight for justice for your child,” said Habib.

At the hearing, Commission III assembled Lisna with her legal team alongside representatives from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and Sukabumi Police.

Following dialogue with all parties, the Commission issued recommendations, including a request that Sukabumi Police investigate not only alleged premeditated murder, but also suspected offences of child neglect, violence against children, and obstruction of the child’s contact with his parents.

“Or other reports relating to the death of the deceased NS child in a transparent, accountable, professional, and proportional manner,” said Habib.

Furthermore, Commission III requested that the Sukabumi Police Chief and his officers provide security and protection guarantees for Lisna, including assurances against both criminal and civil prosecution arising from her testimony or police report concerning NS’s death.

The Commission also requested that KPAI and LPSK oversee the case until its conclusion.

During the hearing, Sri Suparyati, Deputy Chairman of LPSK, stated that Lisna had filed for protection with the agency after experiencing threats of terror following her report to police against NS’s biological father.

Lisna reportedly filed a complaint against her ex-husband with Sukabumi Police for suspected child neglect. Following this, said Sri, Lisna was threatened by unknown parties to remain silent about her child’s death.

LPSK has pressed police to investigate the background of NS’s biological father, as information suggests NS had suffered violence since childhood. The violence was also reportedly experienced by Lisna during her marriage to her ex-husband.

Meanwhile, Diyah Puspitarini, a commissioner at KPAI, stated that long before NS’s death, he suffered violence not only from his stepmother but also from his biological father. NS was beaten and slapped.

“We met with the family and also met with neighbours, and we obtained information that violence was perpetrated not only by the mother but by the father. This particularly intensified over the past four years,” she said.

According to Diyah, other family members and neighbours attempted to intervene. However, NS’s biological father refused to listen. “The father’s response was, ‘That’s my child, that’s my business,’” she said.

Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Samian expressed his commitment to professional law enforcement and protection for vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.

“Regarding witnesses or victims, should any threats be made, please inform us immediately and we will follow up professionally. We are also still waiting to gather information from the victim’s mother. If necessary, we are prepared to visit her residence,” he stated.

NS, a 12-year-old boy, died allegedly as a result of abuse by his stepmother in Jampang Kulon, Sukabumi Regency. The victim died on 19 February 2026 bearing bruises and burn marks on his body.

Sukabumi Police have designated Teni Ridha Shi (47), the child’s stepmother, as a suspect for assault.
