Bioethanol Production: PTPN I Seeks Market Certainty and Marketing Support
The President Director of PT Perkebunan Nusantara I, Abdul Rivai Ras, is optimistic about the development of bioethanol derived from sugarcane molasses, with a production target that could reach 30 million litres per year. PTPN I continues to drive molasses production, supported by 42 sugar mills spread across Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi acting as molasses suppliers. Consequently, PTPN I is focused on increasing and optimising the production of high-quality sugarcane while maintaining the balance of national sugar production.
PTPN I is also working to strengthen the bioethanol ecosystem through government regulatory support, specifically via mandatory bioethanol-gasoline blending policies. Simultaneously, PTPN I is urging the government to ensure the availability of a market capable of absorbing bioethanol production, alongside seeking support from state-owned energy companies to assist in marketing the biofuel.
