PT Bio Farma (Persero) participated in the 2nd Ambassadors’ Dialogue on Enhancing Trade and Investment Cooperation between Indonesia and Latin America and the Caribbean, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia at the Nusantara Room, Main Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Thursday, 21 May. The forum served as a strategic platform to strengthen Indonesia’s economic diplomacy, particularly in advancing trade and investment cooperation between Indonesia and Latin American and Caribbean nations. The event brought together key stakeholders, including Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arif Havas Oegroseno; Deputy for Investment Cooperation Andre Omer Siregar; Managing Director of Global Relations & Governance at BPI Danantara, Mohamad Al-Arief; Vice Chairman of Foreign Affairs at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Bernardino Moningka Vega; Director General of the Americas and Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Grata Endah Werdaningtyas; representatives from ministries and agencies, ambassadors and representatives of Latin American and Caribbean countries in Indonesia, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), business actors, and industry associations. At the forum, Bio Farma Group was among Indonesian companies presenting business pitches alongside Danantara Indonesia, PT Pertamina International Exploration and Production, PT PLN Indonesia Power, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT Astra Otoparts Tbk, Polytron, and FKS Group. Bio Farma’s participation underscored its commitment to expanding international partnerships, particularly in the health and life sciences sectors. Bio Farma’s Sales Director, Fitri Puspadewi, stated that the company’s international collaborations extend beyond trade activities, aiming to create long-term benefits for strengthening the global health ecosystem. ‘International collaboration for Bio Farma is not merely about trade relations but also encompasses capacity building, technology transfer, and the development of a sustainable health ecosystem. We aim to foster partnerships that deliver mutual benefits for all parties,’ said Fitri. Bio Farma Group has previously established collaborations with Latin America and the Caribbean through routine supply mechanisms via the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and bilateral agreements with countries such as Argentina, Mexico, and Peru via Phapros. This highlights the region’s significance in Bio Farma Group’s global network development. According to Fitri, Latin America and the Caribbean hold strategic importance for Bio Farma Group due to their large market potential, growing healthcare needs, and extensive opportunities for long-term collaboration. ‘Latin America and the Caribbean are strategically vital for Bio Farma Group owing to evolving healthcare demands and wide-ranging opportunities for long-term collaboration. We recognise shared challenges in expanding healthcare access, enabling partnerships built on mutual needs and benefits,’ Fitri added. Through the forum, Bio Farma showcased its capabilities as a national life sciences company with extensive experience in vaccine and healthcare product development, production, and distribution. In addition to its product portfolio, the company highlighted its research and development, manufacturing, quality systems, and global partnership experience. Bio Farma sees extensive cooperation opportunities with Latin America and the Caribbean, ranging from vaccine and life science product trade, joint capability development, technology transfer, research collaboration, to strengthening manufacturing and healthcare systems. The forum also provided a key platform to gain comprehensive insights into international market needs and bolster Indonesia’s position in the global health value chain. Fitri added that Bio Farma’s participation aligns with the company’s transformation into a globally oriented national life sciences entity. ‘Events like this open doors to new collaborations and broaden understanding of international market needs. Engaging with global stakeholders is crucial for expanding networks, driving innovation, and enhancing Bio Farma’s international competitiveness,’ she explained. As part of the Danantara ecosystem, Bio Farma views its role not only as a healthcare industry player but also as a contributor to strengthening Indonesia’s economic and health diplomacy globally. The company is committed to enhancing national industry competitiveness, expanding access to quality healthcare products, and contributing more significantly to the global health ecosystem.
