BINUS University Appoints Professor of Digital Marketing Amid Content Explosion
BINUS University has officially inaugurated Prof. Retno Dewanti, S.Si., M.M., Ph.D. as a Permanent Professor in the field of Digital Marketing. In her scientific oration titled “From Interaction to Conversion: Building a Sustainable Digital Marketing Ecosystem”, Prof. Retno stressed a paradigm shift where marketing is no longer just about delivering one-way messages but has transformed into a fully customer-centric experience. She argued that success in the modern digital era cannot be measured solely by surface metrics like impressions or followers; the key lies in a brand’s ability to build relevant, personal, and meaningful relationships. To achieve this, she introduced an integrated framework for strategically mapping the customer journey. Prof. Retno also highlighted the immense potential of the national digital economy, driven by high internet penetration and social media usage, while cautioning businesses about the accompanying serious challenges. She noted that the proper use of digital technology would act as a catalyst for strengthening MSMEs, the creative industry, and job creation, thereby reinforcing national economic resilience. BINUS University Rector Dr. Nelly, S.Kom., M.M., stated that the inauguration represents the university’s concrete contribution to addressing contemporary challenges and strengthening the role of digital marketing science for the benefit of business and national development.
