Binus School Students’ IB Scores Again Exceed Global Average
Binus School students achieved academic results above the global average in international examinations in 2026. The results were recorded in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Cambridge examinations taken by its students.
In the 2026 IB Diploma Programme examinations, Binus School students achieved an average subject score of 5.2, exceeding the global average of 4.9, according to data from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
The result adds to the track record of Binus School Simprug, which has recorded IB results above the global average for 18 consecutive years. Strong performances were also reported in the Cambridge programme. According to Cambridge International, 87 per cent of Binus School students achieved results in the Outstanding, High and Good categories in the Cambridge Checkpoint.
Meanwhile, in the 2026 Cambridge A Level examinations, 25 per cent of students achieved grades of A or A*. Binus School Director Sherrierose Garcia Gonzales said the results reflected students’ hard work, teachers’ dedication, parents’ support and the guidance of school leaders.
“We are proud of this achievement, which is the result of students’ hard work, teachers’ dedication, parents’ support and the guidance of our school leaders,” Sherrierose said in a written statement on Tuesday (13 October 2026).
She said the school focused not only on academic achievement, but also on helping students identify their potential and goals. Character development, as well as the ability to apply knowledge and skills, was also part of the learning process.
The academic results have also helped Binus School graduates secure places at leading universities overseas. These include the University of Pennsylvania, University College London, Cornell University, the University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Washington, Monash University and the University of Melbourne.
In Indonesia, Binus School graduates have also been accepted at universities including the University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, Gadjah Mada University, Binus University and Binus International. Since its establishment in 1998, Binus School has developed a network that now operates at five locations: Simprug, Serpong, Bekasi, Semarang and Surabaya. The school offers IB and Cambridge programmes, with learning pathways tailored to students’ needs and aspirations.
Sherrierose stressed that examination results and university admissions were not the ultimate goals of education. Schools, she said, also needed to create learning environments that encouraged students to think critically and develop their individual potential.
“Our commitment is to create a learning environment that encourages students to think critically, with teachers who understand and develop each student’s potential, and learning that helps them find a clearer sense of purpose,” she said.
