Binus Kebon Jeruk Building Fire, Firefighters Still Battling to Extinguish the Blaze

West Jakarta, Friday — Firefighters were still battling a fire that consumed the Anggrek Campus building of Bina Nusantara University in Kemanggisan, Palmerah, West Jakarta, on Friday morning (22 May 2026). ‘At present I and my team are on site to handle the situation,’ said Syaiful Kahfi, head of the Operations Section of West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Office (Sudin Gulkarmat Jakarta Barat), when contacted by telephone on Friday morning. The blaze at the campus building was reported by residents around 05:30 WIB. ‘The fire situation is still in the process of being extinguished with thick smoke,’ he added. In a video obtained by Kompas.com, dense black smoke could be seen billowing from inside the campus building. For initial handling, five fire engines and 30 personnel were deployed to the scene. Several fire engines were lined up around the campus up to the edge of Jalan Rawa Belong in Palmerah. As of around 07:30 WIB, firefighting was still ongoing.
