Bintaro-Ulujami toll road opened
JAKARTA: Toll road operator PT Jasa Marga inaugurated on Sunday a section of the first part of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) project, connecting Bintaro and Ulujami.
The company's operations director, Marijanto, told The Jakarta Post that the section is a part of the 7.2-kilometer-long Bintaro to Pondok Aren section.
Last week, the company inaugurated another section of the toll road connecting Veteran and Pondok Aren.
"An ongoing legal dispute over the ownership of land in the Ulujami-Veteran project area forced us to delay the construction. We expect the road to be completed by the end of this year," Marijanto said.
Sunday's inauguration was officiated over by PT Jasa Marga president director Syarifuddin Alambai.
Last April, the South Jakarta District Court ordered a halt to the construction of the Ulujami to Pondok Aren section as the heirs of one D.H. Aritonang claimed ownership over almost 20,000 square meters of land in the project area.
The previous completion date for the first part of the JORR was July 2003. The other parts of the project are the TMII junction to Ceger, and Ceger to Jl. Raya Hankam in East Jakarta.
The second part of the JORR will be the Hankam to Jatiasih and Jatiasih to Cikunir sections, on which construction will begin in January 2004. -- JP
