The Bintaro Fish Market area in North Ampenan Village, Ampenan District, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, has the potential to become a new official parking location. This is due to the high number of vehicles parked in the area. The Mataram Transportation Agency is currently studying this new parking location. The agency will conduct observations and field surveys to assess the potential revenue from parking in the area. “We will look at it first and observe it together with our colleagues in the field,” said Head of the Mataram Transportation Agency, Zulkarwin, on Tuesday (4/8/2026). Zulkarwin revealed that the agency has coordinated with the North Ampenan Village Head to recommend parking attendants if the Bintaro Fish Market area is designated as a new official parking location. According to Zulkarwin, there are several characteristics required to establish a new parking location. These include a high volume of vehicles and long parking durations. However, parking activity in the Bintaro Fish Market area only lasts for about four hours, from early morning until 8 a.m. “If the activity only lasts a few hours, we must calculate whether the retribution revenue is comparable to the on-site management costs,” Zulkarwin explained. Previously, from January to May 2026, the Mataram Transportation Agency recorded 12 new officially registered parking locations. These new locations are predominantly trendy cafes that have emerged in Mataram, including Valette Kosmetik in Rembiga, as well as Alicia Kosmetik, Rumah Makan Puyung, Titik Koma, Ahpek, Bonolo Kafe, and Kopi Kenangan on Jalan Pendidikan, among others.
