Binomo Victims Raise Concerns Over Compensation Following Indra Kenz's Conditional Release
Victims of the Binomo robot trading investment fraud have highlighted issues regarding the distribution of compensation following the conditional release of Indra Kesuma, also known as Indra Kenz.
Lawyer for the victims, Irsan Gusfriandal, stated that while compensation has indeed been distributed from the seized assets belonging to Indra Kenz, the process remains problematic. He noted that the distribution carried out by the victims’ association has not been executed correctly in proportion to the actual losses suffered by the victims.
“It is still problematic to this day regarding the distribution carried out by the association,” he told reporters on Saturday (26/9).
He further mentioned that the issues regarding the victims’ compensation have been reported by his party to the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri). “We have reported the matter to Bareskrim Polri under Police Report Number: STTL/184/IV/2025/Bareskrim, dated 22 April 2025,” he said.
On the other hand, Irsan expressed hope that following his conditional release, Indra will not repeat his actions which have harmed many people. “If he has indeed been granted conditional release, we hope that the events of yesterday will not recur,” he added.
The Head of the Public Communication Working Group and Spokesperson for the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas), Budi Waskito, previously confirmed that Indra Kenz has been granted conditional release. “On Thursday, 24 September 2026, at 11:00, conditional release was implemented for Indra Kusuma, or Indra Kenz. He is under the supervision of Bapas Bogor,” Budi stated when confirmed.
Meanwhile, Indra Kenz has issued an apology to all victims who suffered losses due to his actions. In a post on his Instagram account, Indra Kenz admitted that his past actions were wrong and stated he would not seek justification for them.
“To anyone who has suffered because of my actions, I sincerely apologise. I never intended to hurt anyone, and at that time, I did not fully understand the law or consider the consequences of my actions,” he was quoted as saying on Saturday (26/9).
“I was wrong, it was my own mistake, and I take full responsibility for the problems caused,” he added.
In 2022, the panel of judges sentenced Indra Kenz to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp5 billion for the Binomo fraudulent investment case. He was found legally and convincingly guilty of spreading fake news and money laundering.
Indra was proven to have violated Article 45A paragraph (1) of Law Number 19 of 2016 regarding the Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE), as well as Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2010 regarding the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering Crimes (TPPU).
