The handover ceremony of the Binokasih crown into the golden carriage took place solemnly in the courtyard of the Geusan Ulun Museum on Saturday (2/5).

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that the Binokasih crown parade has frequently been held in Sumedang using a Jeep vehicle. However, this year the crown is being carried in a cultural procession.

“Starting this year, the Binokasih crown is being paraded, no longer using a Jeep, but with a cultural event derived from our ancestral values, taken around West Java. It stops at eight places, then the peak will be in Bandung City heading to Gedung Sate, and then it will return to Sumedang,” said Dedi in his statement on Monday (11/5/2026).

He emphasised that Sunda Tatar Day will be routinely held every year under the theme of Milangkala Tatar Sunda. Besides West Java, the event will also take place in some villages in Banten and Central Java that still uphold Sunda traditions.

Meanwhile, Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir expressed gratitude for the governor’s attention to Sunda culture, particularly in Sumedang Regency.

“This is an extraordinary celebration, full of meaning on how a milestone reflects history and serves as a compass for the future of West Java and Sumedang within it,” he stated.

From Sumedang, the Padjadjaran Remembrance Procession carrying the Binokasih crown proceeded to Kawali, Ciamis, on Sunday (3/5). Next, on Monday night (4/5), it will head to Kampung Naga in Tasikmalaya.

It will then be paraded to Cianjur on Tuesday (5/5) and Bogor on Wednesday (6/5). The remembrance continues to Karawang on Friday (8/5), then Depok on Saturday (9/5) and Sunday (10/5) in Cirebon Regency.

The peak of the Padjadjaran Remembrance Procession will take place in Bandung City during the cultural arts parade of regencies and cities across West Java on Saturday (16/5).

On Sunday night (17/6), the Peuting Munggaran Milangkala Tatar Sunda celebration will feature a grand cultural performance at Gedung Sate.

For information, the handover of the Binokasih crown was witnessed directly by the Raja of Sumedang H.R.I Lukman Soeriadisoeria and his entourage, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi accompanied by Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan, West Java Provincial Secretary Herman Suryatman, Sumedang Regent, and several provincial and regency officials of West Java and Sumedang.
