Musharraf says doesn't want war, condemns terrorism: Pakistan's
President Pervez Musharraf on Monday vowed not to initiate war,
condemned attacks in India as "terrorist attacks," but promised
to maintain his nation's support for what he called Kashmir's
"freedom struggle". "We do not want war. Pakistan will not be the
one to initiate war. We want peace in the region," Musharraf said
in a televised speech to the nation. India will react officially
on Tuesday to Musharraf's address to his nation, but on his

Large ice areas reported found on Mars: Large areas of ice
reportedly have been found on Mars, a discovery that could alter
how scientists view the red planet and what kind of life forms
may have existed on the lonely outpost. According to NASA, which
has been mapping the dusty, dry planet with its Mars Odyssey
spacecraft, many scientists believe Mars could once have had much

Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali has won nearly 100 percent approval to
constitutional reforms enabling him to rule practically for life
in a referendum the opposition branded a sham. Official results
from the referendum on Sunday showed that 99.52 percent of voters
approved numerous amendments to the constitution which opponents
say will allow Ben Ali, 65 and in power for 15 years, to rule for

leader Aung San Suu Kyi appealed for public support in her quest
to bring democracy to the military ruled country on Monday before
her biggest audience since she was freed from house arrest this
month. Speaking to more than 600 supporters and diplomats
gathered to mark the 12th anniversary of her National League for
Democracy's (NLD) sweeping victory in Myanmar's last elections in
1990, Suu Kyi urged the public to be more active in politics. --

struggle loomed in the ruling Nepali Congress party on Monday
after the expulsion of the prime minister from its ranks in a row
over extending emergency rule to tackle an increasingly violent
Maoist revolt. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's was expelled
on Sunday -- after he had the parliament dissolved and ordered
early elections -- when party dissidents led by his predecessor,
Girija Prasad Koirala, rebelled against his plan to prolong the

Australian court commits Hanson for fraud trial: Right-wing
firebrand Pauline Hanson, the anti-immigration campaigner
credited with forcing Australia into its hard line stance on
refugees, was committed for trial on fraud charges here on
Monday. After a month long committal hearing, magistrate Michael
Halliday ruled that she and former political ally David Ettridge
had a case to answer on charges of fraudulently registering
