Bina Marga to Discuss Liability for Tendean Footbridge Incident
The Jakarta Bina Marga Agency will soon hold discussions with the relevant company regarding liability for the incident involving a pedestrian footbridge (JPO) in the Tendean area of South Jakarta, which collapsed after being hit by a truck. Head of the agency’s Data and Information Centre, Siti Dinarwenny, stated that discussions on liability for the incurred losses are currently underway. The agency will coordinate and discuss with the company to find the best solution, whilst awaiting processes from other authorised institutions. Regarding the reconstruction of the Tendean footbridge, she explained that her office will first prepare a technical plan in accordance with applicable regulations, as the process requires further study. Therefore, the timeline for the bridge’s reconstruction cannot yet be confirmed. Wenny further urged all drivers, particularly those operating oversized vehicles or heavy equipment transporters, to always comply with vehicle dimension and height restrictions and to observe applicable traffic signs, in hopes of preventing similar incidents in the future.
