Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Public Works Agency (Dinas Bina Marga) will soon hold discussions with the company concerned regarding liability for the incident involving a pedestrian bridge (JPO) in the Tendean area of South Jakarta, which collapsed after being hit by a truck.

“Regarding liability for the losses incurred, this is still under discussion. Dinas Bina Marga will coordinate and consult with the company to find the best solution, whilst awaiting the process from the relevant agencies in accordance with their authority,” said Siti Dinarwenny, Head of the Data and Information Centre (Pusdatin) at the DKI Jakarta Public Works Agency, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, regarding the reconstruction of the Tendean pedestrian bridge, she explained that her office would first prepare technical planning in accordance with applicable regulations, as the process requires further study.

For this reason, the timing of the bridge’s reconstruction cannot yet be confirmed.

Furthermore, Wenny appealed to all drivers, particularly those of large-dimensional vehicles and heavy equipment transporters, to always comply with regulations on vehicle dimension and height limits, and to pay attention to applicable traffic signs.

It is hoped that this will prevent such an incident from recurring.

“Compliance with these regulations is expected to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future,” said Wenny.
