Bina Marga prepares permanent measures to address potholes in DKI
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the DKI Jakarta Public Works Department, Heru Suwondo, stated that his agency is preparing permanent measures to address potholes in the capital. “We are currently preparing these permanent actions, and hopefully, they can proceed soon,” Heru said when met at the Office of the Unit for Investigation, Testing, and Measurement of Public Works in East Jakarta on Tuesday. According to Heru, the follow-up for potholed roads in Jakarta varies depending on the road’s condition. Heru explained that if the potholed road is asphalt, the Public Works Department will repair it using cold mix material or cold asphalt. “But if the damaged road is concrete, we will use quick-dry cement,” Heru clarified. Previously, the Head of the Data and Information Centre of the DKI Jakarta Public Works Department, Siti Dinarwenny, stated that the current handling is a temporary and emergency measure. Road patching is also carried out in accordance with the unpredictable weather conditions. She assured that permanent repairs using hot mix asphalt will be conducted when the weather is more conducive, to improve road quality and longevity. “The use of hot mix is effective for long-term maintenance and is expected to reduce the potential for further damage due to extreme weather,” Wenny explained. Wenny added that the post-heavy rain handling will be carried out comprehensively across the five administrative cities of DKI Jakarta, covering neighbourhood roads, provincial roads, and major thoroughfares.
