Bin Laden's assets to be frozen
Chief of the State Intelligence Body (BIN) A.M. Hendropriyono
said on Monday that the government would freeze the assets of
Osama bin Laden, the U.S.'s prime suspect in the Sept. 11
terrorist attacks on America, if any were discovered in
Indonesia.
"If there are any, we will freeze them. Currently, we are
investigating the possibility," Hendropriyono told reporters as
quoted by Antara after meeting Coordinating Minister for
Political and Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, to
discuss a request by the U.S. government for Indonesia to freeze
the assets if found here.
The U.S. government has been intensifying the investigation
into the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
In a military operation the U.S. government plans to attack
Afghanistan, where bin Laden has allegedly been hiding. The
government also aims to freeze all bin Laden's assets worldwide.
Hendropriyono said that the intelligence body was also
investigating the possible entry of international terrorists into
Indonesia. -- Antara
