Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra has spoken out regarding the threat of a ‘Reformasi Jilid II’ ahead of a large-scale demonstration to be held by students today in the Bundaran HI area, Friday (12/6).

Herindra reminded all parties to maintain unity and integrity. He does not want anything detrimental to occur for any party.

“The important thing is that we all must maintain unity and integrity. Do not let anything happen that is not beneficial for all of us,” said Herindra after a meeting at Commission I of the DPR, Thursday (11/6).

In their planned action today, students are calling for a Reformasi Jilid II. They are bringing five demands: first, asking the government to stop the waste of the state budget (APBN). Second, to lower the prices of staple goods and fuel (BBM).

Third, to halt the MBG programme and the construction of Koperasi Desa Merah Putih. Fourth, to stop civilian militarism, and fifth, to demand that President Prabowo Subianto stop evading and acknowledge the government’s mistakes.

“Whether this will become Reformasi Jilid 2 or not, perhaps this could be our shared rhetoric,” said BEM UI Chairperson, Anandaku Dimas Rumi.

Dimas confirmed that all faculty-level BEMs from his campus will participate in tomorrow’s action. Meanwhile, several other BEMs that will join include those from BEM IPB, Pancasila, and Gunadharma University.

“Several organisations and movement nodes that participated in the national consolidation at the UI Campus yesterday are still confirming attendance and the estimated mass of participants at tonight’s meeting,” he said.
