Bimantara warned for employing foreigners
JAKARTA (JP): The government has given strict warnings to
publicly listed PT Bimantara and private television station RCTI
for employing three foreigners without work permits, an official
said on Friday.
Director General of Immigration M. Mudakir identified the
three foreigners employed by the two firms as Briton Rowan Mark
Legg, Filipino Lourdes Serafico and American Philip Pei Fan Wang.
"The three will be deported if they cannot process their work
permits within one month," Mudakir said in a statement made
available to The Jakarta Post.
Investigation of the three men began on April 22 by officials
of the directorate general and revealed that Serafico and Philip
Pei Fan Wang work at PT Bimantara as marketing and technical
advisors respectively, while Rowan works at RCTI as a technical
advisor.
Serafico and Legg both hold temporary stay permits (Kitas),
while fan Weng has a stay permit (Kitap).
"However, none of the three have a work permit issued by the
Ministry of Manpower," Mudakir said. (ylt)
