Bima Man Surrenders After Hacking Wife with Machete for Refusing to Give Him Money for Tramadol

A man from Labuhan Kananga Village, Tambora District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, with the initials WYP (previously written as FM), who hacked his wife with the initials DR (28), has surrendered to the police. The 23-year-old had fled after attacking his wife because she would not give him money to buy tramadol.

Head of the Bima Police Criminal Investigation Unit, First Inspector Ghufron Subeki, confirmed the suspect in the machete attack against his wife in Tambora District had been taken into custody. Ghufron revealed that WYP surrendered at the Tambora Police Station accompanied by his family on Saturday evening, around 10:00 p.m. local time.

Prior to his surrender, WYP had been pursued by a joint team from the Tambora Police and the Bima Police Criminal Investigation Unit. Following his surrender, WYP is currently being held temporarily at the Tambora Police Station. He will be handed over to the Bima Police Criminal Investigation Unit to undergo legal proceedings.

The domestic violence incident occurred on Friday morning at the couple’s home in Labuhan Kananga Village. The incident began when WYP asked DR for money after waking up in the morning. The request was refused by DR as it was still early in the day and the money requested was intended to buy tramadol pills. Enraged, WYP took a machete and hacked DR, causing injuries to her arm. After attacking his wife, WYP immediately fled.
