The Class II Non-TPI Bima Immigration Office has deported an Australian national with the initials PDN (54) after he was proven to have misused an Investor Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) to manage a lodging business in the Lakey Beach area, Hu’u District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. “This action is a form of immigration law enforcement against foreign nationals proven to have carried out activities inconsistent with the stay permit they hold,” said Head of the Class II Non-TPI Bima Immigration Office, Joko Widodo, in a statement in Bima on Saturday. Joko stated that the deportation of PDN was carried out on 10 June 2026 via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, after officers discovered immigration violations committed by the foreigner. He explained that surveillance of PDN had been conducted since 2025. At that time, Bima Immigration officers placed the individual on a target of operation (TO) list on suspicion of misusing the investor stay permit. “The individual has been our surveillance target since last year. However, at that time he had not yet entered Indonesian territory, so the examination process could only be carried out after he returned,” he said. Based on the examination results, PDN was identified as the owner of a lodging business operating in Dompu Regency since 2021. Although not permanently residing at the business location, he continued to directly control the business operations. This finding was deemed inconsistent with the purpose of granting the ITAS investor held by PDN. Officers also found data discrepancies in the process of obtaining the stay permit used. Based on the examination results and the admission documented in the Examination Report (BAP), PDN was proven to have violated Article 122 letter a and Article 123 letter a of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. Joko said the case is part of efforts to strengthen supervision of the activities of foreign nationals who utilise investment schemes to obtain stay permits in Indonesia. “We will continue to enhance supervision of the presence and activities of foreigners, especially those running business activities within the Bima Immigration working area, so that all activities carried out comply with the permits they hold,” he said. He emphasised that immigration law enforcement aims to maintain administrative order, protect national interests, and create legal certainty for all business actors operating in Indonesia.
