Bima City Mayor Urges Civil Servants to Switch from Subsidised 3 kg LPG to Non-Subsidised Cylinders
Mayor A Rahman of the Bima City Government has urged all civil servants (ASNs) to switch to non-subsidised LPG, with subsidised 3 kg cylinders to be used only by households and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The directive is contained in Circular Letter SE No. 72/2026 concerning the advisory use of subsidised 3 kg LPG in line with its allocation. The SE was issued on 3 March 2026 and signed by A Rahman. In the SE, 3 kg LPG is a subsidised LPG provided by the government and intended for households and micro enterprises, while ASNs are not eligible beneficiaries. “To all ASNs within the Bima City Government to use non-subsidised LPG (5.5 kg to 12 kg) to meet household needs,” A Rahman was quoted as saying, according to detikBali in the SE on Friday (5/3/2026). The SE calls on heads of OPS (OPD) to socialise the policy and to carry out internal surveillance among staff in their respective work units. “The SE is advisory to support targeted subsidies and to implement the NTB Governor’s edict urging ASNs not to use LPG 3 kg,” the mayor said. The Head of the City Department of Cooperatives, Industry and Trade (Diskoperindag), Ruslan, said LPG 3 kg distribution must refer to applicable regulations, prioritising households as the main beneficiaries. “In addition, the 3 kg LPG is also intended for MSMEs that meet the criteria set out in the regulations,” he added. Ruslan asked all distributors to refrain from delivering subsidised 3 kg LPG to ASNs to prevent potential distribution irregularities and price spikes. “We also urge the village administrations and related parties (Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas) to play an active role in supervising and ensuring the distribution of subsidised 3 kg LPG is normal and targeted,” he said. So far, stock and distribution of subsidised 3 kg LPG in Bima City remain relatively stable with no shortages. There has even been an addition of 3,920 cylinders recently distributed to the area. The additional supply is intended to maintain availability and secure subsidised 3 kg LPG stocks through Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in the Bima region, he added.
