Deputy Home Affairs Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto has stressed the importance of aligning central and regional government policies to accelerate national development. A shared vision and coordinated action are needed to turn policies into programmes that have a tangible impact on the wider public.

The main aim of this synergy is to realise the nation’s aspirations for a Golden Indonesia by 2045. Bima said a country’s progress depends greatly on all elements of government working together towards a common direction.

“We cannot become a developed country if everyone goes their own way. The most important thing is how we move together, building a shared narrative and orchestrating our efforts towards 2045,” Bima said in a written statement on Wednesday (28 October 2026).

Bima said his ministry plays an active role in coordinating regional governments so that development programmes are aligned with national priorities. This is done through retreats for regional heads and ongoing guidance to ensure policies are implemented effectively.

He also highlighted the importance of strengthening regional economies through fully integrated ecosystems.

“Economic growth is not only about government spending. It is not just about spending state money. Economic growth means production, economic growth means consumption, and bringing together an ecosystem,” he said.

To maintain economic stability, the Home Affairs Ministry also supports inflation control through regular coordination with regional governments across Indonesia. This helps identify quickly any obstacles affecting the prices of production and distribution of essential goods.

These measures are intended to protect residents’ purchasing power and sustain economic growth in every region.

Priority programmes introduced by the President, such as Free Nutritious Meals, also need to be supported by adequate food supplies. Coordination between institutions is also essential to improve public services through centralised digital transformation.

This includes developing a single population identity to make it easier for people to access health insurance, social assistance and education.

Bima also urged all regional governments to learn from one another and adopt good practices from other areas. He cited Medan’s split-bill innovation to optimise regional tax revenues, as well as converting waste into energy, as initiatives worth emulating for greater efficiency.

“Cities across Indonesia must keep moving towards the cities of the future, inspiring and sharing with one another in the spirit of efficiency as we work towards a Golden Indonesia by 2045,” he said.
