Bima Arya on Cabinet Reshuffle: Ready for All Scenarios
Deputy Interior Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto has responded to the widespread rumours of a cabinet reshuffle that President Prabowo Subianto is reportedly planning. He stated that the authority for such a move lies entirely with the president.
“It is the prerogative of the President. We are ready for all scenarios; the important thing now is for the entire cabinet to keep working. I haven’t heard anything at all,” Bima said at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, 27 April 2026.
Previously, Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya neither confirmed nor denied queries about a potential reshuffle in the near future. He only asked the public to await an official announcement regarding changes to the president’s aides.
When asked again about the possibility of a reshuffle occurring in April 2026, Teddy did not provide a firm answer. He stated that explanations on the matter would be given directly by President Prabowo Subianto. “The President will explain it later,” said the PAN politician.
Rumours of a cabinet reshuffle have surfaced several times since the beginning of the year. At the end of January 2026, speculation grew stronger after Thomas Djiwandono was appointed as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia. This appointment left the position of Deputy Finance Minister, which he previously held, vacant.
The news was later confirmed when President Prabowo inaugurated Juda Agung, former Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, to fill that role. Thomas and Juda effectively swapped positions.
Talk of a cabinet reshuffle resurfaced after Budisatrio Djiwandono was said to be set to join the cabinet, according to House Commission I Chairman Utut Adianto. Utut made the statement during a working meeting with the Ministry of Defence and the TNI on Monday, 26 January.
On the other hand, General Chairman of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI) Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat is reportedly set to become a minister in the Merah Putih Cabinet amid the renewed reshuffle rumours. Jumhur confirmed reports that he would be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto.
“Yes, it’s true (I will be inaugurated by the president as a minister),” said the former Head of the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) when contacted on Monday, 27 April 2026.
