BIM University Bali Officially Opens as an Inclusive Campus for All
BIM University (Bali International Muhammadiyah) has officially opened new student registration for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, adopting a concept of education based on technology, industry, and entrepreneurship. The campus has also asserted itself as a higher education institution that is open to all groups without discrimination based on religious background.
The Rector of BIM University, Harun Joko Prayitting, stated that the name ‘Bali International Muhammadiyah’ does not make the campus exclusive to members of the Muhammadiyah community. According to him, BIM University was designed from the outset as a private university that is inclusive and accessible to the entire community.
“The name is Bali International Muhammadiyah, but all groups can study and attend university at BIM Bali. This is because the campus is intended for all people of all religions, not exclusive to a specific group. This campus was designed from the beginning to provide higher education for everyone,” said Harun at the BIM Bali Campus on Tuesday (9/6).
He explained that, in addition to implementing the ‘Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi’ (the Three Pillars of Higher Education) which includes education, research, and community service, BIM University also implements Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK). Nevertheless, students of other faiths will still receive religious instruction according to their respective beliefs.
BIM University is also offering summer course programmes for international students holidaying in Bali. This programme allows participants to take courses that can be converted into credits at their home universities.
“We want to produce graduates who are not only ready for employment but also ready for entrepreneurship and possess 21st-century life skills. BIM University exists to bridge the needs of the industrial world with the world of education,” Harun said.
He added that the integration of the IIE concept (IT, Industry, Entrepreneurship) with the APIM approach (Adaptive, Progressive, Innovative, Modern Millennials) serves as the university’s strategy in facing technological developments and global challenges.
Regarding study programmes, BIM University’s Marketing Communication, Dewa Ayu Yuliarini, stated that the campus offers several programmes, including Digital Business, Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, Management, Law, Food Technology, and Informatics Engineering.
In terms of costs, BIM University offers tuition fees starting from Rp4.2 million per semester, alongside flexible initial payment options to provide broader educational access to the public.
“BIM University operates with a learning concept that is not just theoretical but also involves direct practice, both in the fields of technology and industry. This is our advantage in preparing work-ready graduates,” said Yuliarini.
According to her, the IIE Campus concept integrates information technology skills, industrial experience, and the development of an entrepreneurial spirit. Students will be equipped with skills such as coding, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity, as well as opportunities for internships and building startups while still studying.
“Students do not only learn in the classroom; they also undergo direct internships and can even build start-ups during their studies,” she added.
Furthermore, BIM University is developing the APIM Campus concept, which focuses on adaptive, progressive, and innovative abilities, as well as project-based learning, to ensure graduates can compete and meet industrial needs in the digital era.
