Police have revealed that Toto Rusdianto, alias Billy (46), used the money he stole from an elderly nasi uduk vendor in Bekasi, West Java, to cover his living expenses. Billy committed the theft because he was unemployed.

“The stolen money was used by the suspect to cover his daily needs because he does not have a permanent job,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, on Thursday (26/2/2026).

In carrying out his actions, Billy often targeted vulnerable groups such as the elderly. This is because, according to Billy, the victims are easier to steal from.

“Based on the results of the investigation and examination by investigators, it was found that there were two crime scenes (locations) committed by the suspect, with the victims being the same elderly nasi uduk vendors. Both are in the Pondok Gede area, Bekasi,” he said.

Toto, alias Billy, was arrested on Friday (20/2), at 05.40 WIB, on Jalan Kramat Utara RT 01 RW 04, Kampung Tengah Village, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. As a result of his actions, Toto, alias Billy, was charged with Article 479 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with violence, with a maximum sentence of 9 years in prison.

Previously Viral for Snatching

Previously, police arrested Toto Rusdianto, alias Billy (46), the thief who stole money from an elderly nasi uduk vendor in Bekasi. It turned out that Billy had also previously snatched the bag of another nasi uduk vendor.

The snatching incident occurred a month earlier, on Friday (2/1), at around 08.00 WIB, on Jalan Sosial RT 02 RW 06, Jatiwaringin Village, Pondok Gede, Bekasi.

“There was a criminal act of theft in the form of a tote bag containing a wallet and money belonging to the victim, amounting to Rp 7.5 million,” said the Head of Unit V of the Resmob of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police, AKP Arief Ryzki Wicaksana.

The perpetrator took the victim’s bag containing a wallet and money that was hanging on the fence at the place where she sold nasi uduk. This incident was also recorded by CCTV and the video went viral on social media.

“When the perpetrator was about to flee on a motorbike, the victim tried to stop him and held his hand. However, the perpetrator sped off, the victim fell, and the perpetrator fled,” he said.
