Bill Gates Compares AI to Alien Intelligence, Claims World Governments Are Unprepared

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has issued a stern warning regarding the pace of development in artificial intelligence (AI). Gates believes that world governments are not yet adequately prepared to face the social changes that AI could trigger, ranging from job losses and cyberattacks to human dependency on AI-based companions.

In an interview with Reuters published on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, Gates even likened AI to an ‘alien intelligence’. According to him, the emergence of technology with such capabilities should encourage major nations to work together, much like humans in science fiction films unite when facing threats from beyond Earth.
