Bill Gates Admits Past Mistakes, Opens Up About Relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and Past Scandals
Microsoft founder Bill Gates has openly stated that he takes responsibility for his past decisions regarding his relationship with the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. In a town hall meeting with staff from his Gates Foundation, the 70-year-old billionaire expressed his apologies and provided a detailed explanation.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reviewing the meeting’s transcript, Gates admitted that his relationship with Epstein was a “terrible mistake.” This routine meeting served as a platform for Gates to address employee concerns following the release of US Department of Justice documents related to Epstein in January.
In a candid question-and-answer session, Gates confirmed that he had an affair with two Russian women. According to the report, Epstein was aware of this secret and allegedly tried to use it as leverage.
However, Gates insisted that his interactions with Epstein were purely for charitable fundraising purposes and that he was not involved in any illegal activities.
“I did not do anything illegal. I did not see anything illegal,” Gates told his staff. He added, “I apologize to the other people who have been dragged into this because of my mistake.”
The relationship between Gates and Epstein continued from 2011 to 2014, even though his ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, had expressed doubts from the beginning. Gates admitted that he had not been thorough enough in checking Epstein’s background at the time.
“To be honest, she (Melinda) was always skeptical about this Epstein thing,” Gates recalled.
Melinda herself, in a separate interview recently, said that the release of the latest documents had reopened painful memories from her marriage. “I’m just glad to be out of all of this,” she said, adding that questions about the scandal should be answered by her ex-husband.
The Gates Foundation stated that the meeting was a routine event to discuss various issues, from artificial intelligence (AI) to global health. A foundation spokesperson confirmed that Gates spoke openly and answered staff questions in detail.
Regarding claims in a draft email from Epstein alleging health problems related to Gates’s sexual activity, Gates’s representatives previously denied the allegations, calling them “completely baseless and false.”
To date, Bill Gates has not been accused of any crimes by Epstein’s victims. He concluded his statement by reiterating his deepest regret.
“I regret every minute I spent with him (Epstein). I apologize for doing that,” Gates said. (BBC/Z-2)
