Big nation, few athletes

I think all sports fans must have watched some of the Atlanta
Olympics to watch how the world's athletes are fighting for the
gold.

But the question that keeps nagging me is why can't Indonesian
athletes compete in events other than badminton, boxing and
archery. It is almost incomprehensible that a country of nearly
200 million cannot produce more competent athletes. European
countries with relatively small populations produce many.

So what's wrong with the development of sports in our country?
