Bibi Kelinci owner says Bareskrim's designation of a suspect is odd
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The owner of Bibi Kelinci Kemang, South Jakarta, Nabilah O’Brien, has described the designation of her as a suspect by the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian Police in connection with alleged violations of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE) and defamation against her as odd. ‘We state that there has actually been no crime committed by our client, so the designation of a suspect is highly odd,’ Nabilah’s counsel Goldie Natasya Swarovski said at a press conference at Bibi Kelinci Kemang, Jakarta, on Friday. Goldie believes the client did not commit any offences as alleged by the complainant, Zendhy Kusuma. Nabilah, who should have been the victim of theft, was instead designated a suspect by Bareskrim Polri, reported by Zendhy on Saturday (28/2). The initial dispute began after Nabilah reported Zhendy for suspected theft because the guitarist did not pay for 14 orders of food and beverages. According to Goldie, the CCTV footage was uploaded solely to prove the truth and in the public interest. ‘Our client uploaded the CCTV footage not without reason. It is the truth being exposed, once again, for the public interest, so that other business operators do not experience something similar,’ she said. On the other hand, she noted that Nabilah and Zendhy Kusuma had undergone two mediations facilitated by Bareskrim, Polri, and Polsek Mampang Prapatan. However, there was no agreement in these two mediations. ‘We have conducted mediation twice, facilitated by Bareskrim and by the police station, and there was no resolution. As far as we know, they proposed a settlement that makes no sense,’ she said. The police report against the restaurant owner, i.e., Nabilah, is registered under LP/B/048/IX/2025/SPKT/Polsek Mampang/Polres Metro Jaksel/Polda Metro Jaya. Nabilah also issued a cease-and-desist, and the alleged offender responded that the report was false and claimed to have suffered material losses of Rp1 billion. On 30 September 2025, the alleged offender reported Nabilah to Bareskrim Polri for alleged violations of UU ITE, defamation, and slander. On 24 February 2026, Polsek Mampang Prapatan named Zendhy and Evi as suspects in an alleged theft.
