JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The owner of the Bibi Kelinci restaurant, Nabilah O’Brien, has been named a suspect in an alleged defamation case after uploading CCTV footage of a theft that occurred at her restaurant to social media.

The case began on the night of Friday, 19 September 2025, when Bibi Kelinci was taking a high volume of orders.

In the surveillance footage, a husband-and-wife duo identified by the initials ZK and ERS are seen entering the kitchen area, which is a restricted zone. They then protested to staff because the meals had not yet been served.

According to Goldie, after the disturbance, ZK and ERS left the restaurant carrying 14 ordered dishes without paying. The staff pursued them to settle the bill, but their demand was ignored.

Based on the printed receipt, the restaurant’s losses were estimated at Rp530,150.

Following the incident, Nabilah uploaded the CCTV footage to social media. Through her legal counsel, she also served a cease-and-desist letter to ZK and ERS on 24 September 2025, asking them to apologise in person.

However, the cease-and-desist letter received no response. Nabilah subsequently reported ZK and ERS to Mampang Prapatan Police Sector.

Shortly thereafter, ZK and ERS filed a counter-suit against Nabilah, seeking damages of Rp1 billion.

Nabilah rejected the claim. After that, ZK and ERS reported Nabilah to the police for allegedly disseminating the CCTV footage on social media.

Goldie emphasised that her client uploaded the video with the aim of ensuring that similar incidents do not happen again in other places.

During the investigation, Nabilah has undergone several interrogations at the Directorate of Cybercrime, Bareskrim, Polri, up to 26 February 2026. Two days later, she was named a suspect.

Nabilah said she was puzzled by the judicial process that has charged her. She considered the decision to charge her to be strange because the CCTV footage that was uploaded depicts an event that actually occurred.

“I know the process is moving very quickly and it feels odd. The CCTV footage exists, and the CCTV never lies,” Nabilah said at the same occasion.

On the other hand, ZK and ERS had already been named suspects in the theft case by the Mampang Prapatan Police Sector.
