BI Tasikmalaya Strengthens Data-Driven Inflation Control, Launches 'Sidang' Application
BANK Indonesia Tasikmalaya, together with local governments in East Priangan, has launched the latest development of Sinergi Data Ngahiji (Sidang). This platform integrates cross-regional food price and supply data, equipped with an early warning system and artificial intelligence-based projections to support inflation control policymaking.
Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia Tasikmalaya, Azhar Livaldy Setyawigoena, stated that the East Priangan Sinergi Data Ngahiji will be used by the City Government of Tasikmalaya, the Regency Governments of Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Banjar City, and Pangandaran through a single platform. The data can monitor food price developments, supply conditions, food balances, commodity surpluses and deficits, and the implementation of price stabilisation programmes as coordination material for the Regional Inflation Control Teams (TPID).
“Strengthening the system to support more data-based inflation control coordination allows potential price pressures to be identified earlier. One of the features developed is an early warning system and AI-based price projections. Technology is used to process historical patterns of food price developments, so it can produce indications of potential future price movements,” he said on Thursday (30/7).
According to him, Sindang Priatim is equipped with a food balance feature, monitoring of strategic food commodity supplies, information on inter-regional surpluses and deficits, as well as data on the implementation of market operations (OPM) and cheap food movements (GPM) connected to a digital map. Information on the location of cheap markets can be accessed to help the public learn about the implementation of price stabilisation programmes in their area.
“The availability of quality data is one of the important prerequisites, especially in formulating inflation control policies. Inflation control requires fast, accurate, and reliable information. Through Sindang Priatim, data from various regions is collected in one platform so it can support the identification of price pressures and earlier, more targeted policy coordination,” Azhar emphasised.
According to him, Sindang began to be developed by Bank Indonesia Tasikmalaya in 2024 as a food price monitoring dashboard. The system was then gradually developed by adding supply information, food balances, price movement analysis, and features supporting intervention planning and policy evaluation. Cross-regional data integration is considered important because food price developments are not only influenced by conditions in one area.
He stated that local governments play a role in providing, updating, and validating data according to their respective authorities. The data can be used as material for policy formulation, determining interventions, and evaluating inflation control programmes.
