A Bank Indonesia (BI) survey has recorded an increase in business activity during the second quarter of 2026. This is reflected in a Weighted Net Balance (SBT) of 12.97 percent, up from 10.11 percent in the previous quarter. BI Executive Director of the Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, stated that the rise in business activity was driven by improved performance in several key sectors. “These include Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries; Construction; and Mining and Quarrying, in line with their business activities, as well as the Accommodation and Food and Beverage sector, supported by sustained demand during the National Religious Holidays (HBKN) period and the school holiday high season in Q2 2026,” he said in a press release on Friday, 17 July 2026. The survey also noted that utilised production capacity increased to 73.80 percent in the second quarter, up from 73.33 percent in the first quarter. This increase was mainly supported by the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries; Mining and Quarrying; and Electricity sectors. However, the financial condition of the business sector showed a slight decline. The net balance for liquidity fell to 15.03 percent from 17.05 percent in the previous quarter, while the net balance for profitability decreased to 11.87 percent from 14.87 percent. Looking ahead, respondents forecast that business activity will remain robust in the third quarter of 2026, with an expected SBT of 11.75 percent. The positive outlook is attributed to the performance of the Processing Industry, Wholesale and Retail Trade, and Car and Motorcycle Repair sectors, driven by expectations of maintained public demand, as well as the Construction sector, supported by the continuation of various government and private sector projects.
