BI Survey Reveals Business Performance Rises in Q2-2026
Bank Indonesia’s (BI) Business Activity Survey (SKDU) revealed that business activity performance in the second quarter of 2026 improved compared to the previous quarter, with a weighted net balance (SBT) of 12.97 per cent, up from 10.11 per cent.
Executive Director of BI’s Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, stated that the increase in business activity was driven by improved performance in the majority of main business sectors. These included agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (SBT 1.74 per cent), construction (SBT 0.81 per cent), and mining and quarrying (SBT 0.37 per cent), in line with their operational activities.
He added that the accommodation and food and beverage sector (SBT 0.50 per cent) also saw gains, supported by sustained demand during the national religious holiday period and the school holiday high season in the second quarter of 2026.
Prakoso detailed that utilised production capacity in the second quarter of 2026 was recorded at 73.80 per cent, an increase from the 73.33 per cent realised in the first quarter of 2026. This increase was mainly supported by the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector; the mining and quarrying sector; and the electricity supply sector.
Meanwhile, the overall financial condition of the business world remained generally favourable in terms of both liquidity and profitability, with credit access remaining easy. Respondents forecast that business activity in the third quarter of 2026 will be maintained, with an SBT of 11.75 per cent.
Business sectors expected to see improved performance include the manufacturing industry; wholesale and retail trade, and car and motorcycle repair, in line with anticipated sustained public demand; as well as the construction sector, driven by the continuation of various government and private projects. Additionally, business activity in the mining and quarrying sector is also expected to increase, influenced by a decrease in rainfall which will boost mining activity.
