Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia’s survey predicts that retail business activity on the island of Bali will remain positively growing over the next six months amid challenges from the geopolitical crisis, supported in part by government fiscal stimuli.

“The sales index for the next six months, specifically in August 2026, stands at 194, which is above the optimistic zone and higher than July’s figure of 184,” said the Head of Bank Indonesia’s Bali Representative Office, Erwin Soeriadimadja, in Denpasar, Bali, on Monday.

Meanwhile, in the short term for May 2026, the sales expectations index (IEP) is estimated at 174, higher than the projected index of 170 for April 2026.

According to him, the positive prospects for retail sales in Bali, as shown by the IEP, reflect business actors’ confidence in sales performance in the short to medium term.

The central bank is still maintaining its policy interest rate at 4.75 per cent in March 2026.

Erwin added that the government is continuing its fuel subsidy policy to support economic growth.

Meanwhile, the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) across Bali Province continues to implement affordable market operations for strategic commodities.

“We, together with the TPID at both provincial and district/city levels, continue to strive to maintain price stability,” he added.

In the meantime, in March 2026, Bali’s retail sales index is still growing on an optimistic scale above 100, namely 123.8.

The triggering factors are major religious holidays, namely Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr, which increase consumption of retail goods such as motor vehicle fuel (BBM), clothing, as well as food and beverages.

Bali’s Retail Sales Survey (SPE) is a monthly survey of 100 retailers in Denpasar City and surrounding areas, aimed at obtaining early information on the direction of economic growth from the consumption side.

In addition, data from the integrated general bank report (LBUT) regarding the development of annual credit in the trade business sector up to February 2026 also shows an increase of 1.46 per cent year-on-year.
