BI Survey Indicates Stable Business Performance in Q1 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI), through the results of the Business Activity Survey (SKDU), recorded that business activity performance is indicated to remain stable in the first quarter of 2026. This is reflected in the Weighted Net Balance (SBT) value of 10.11 per cent, although lower than 10.61 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2025. BI’s Director of the Communications Department, Anton Pitono, stated in Jakarta on Friday that the performance of the majority of business fields (LU) was recorded as positive. This stems from the financial services LU, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries LU, processing industry LU, as well as the wholesale and retail trade LU, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. This development, according to him, aligns with the increase in public demand during various National Religious Holidays (HBKN) in the first quarter of 2026, such as Chinese New Year, Nyepi Holy Day, the Ramadan period and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, as well as the start of the harvest season for agricultural commodities. Utilised production capacity in the first quarter of 2026 was recorded at 73.33 per cent, an increase compared to 73.15 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2025. The rise in production capacity was supported by the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries LU, as well as the processing industry LU. Meanwhile, business finances are in good condition in terms of both liquidity and profitability, with easier access to credit. Respondents predict that business activities in the second quarter of 2026 will increase, with an SBT of 14.80 per cent. The increase in business activities is expected to mainly come from the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries LU, in line with the continuation of the food commodity harvest season. Then, the mining and quarrying LU, supported by a decrease in rainfall which encourages mining activities, as well as the construction LU in line with the start of work on several projects.
